Analyzing Point Cloud Data in ERDAS IMAGINE

Using Spatial Modeler Operators to Produce Bare Earth Models from Point Clouds

Producing a bare earth model from point cloud data can be challenging. Having unwanted features in a point cloud can interfere with its intended use. The ability to run Spatial Model operators such as point classification and access to remote sensing operators allows for a detailed editing environment.

Once complete, the edited data can be used in many applications, including high-accuracy orthorectification. In this paper, the case study demonstrates how spatial model operators are used to remove unwanted features to create a bare-earth elevation source. This data can then be used to orthorectify imagery.
